Domestic Violence Awareness

At Empoderate, we are dedicated to combating domestic violence and supporting survivors through various efforts including our annual brunch event. Empoderate was established in 2023 in honor of Norma Liz's mom, Norma who is a survivor of domestic violence, an immigrant from El Salvador who did not have any one to turn to for support and took it upon herself to teach herself how to drive, speak English and pave the way for her daughters’ success. While planning the event, Norma (mom) suggested a title in Spanish, “Empoderate a ti misma!” Empoderate in Spanish means to “empower yourself” it reflects taking ownership of your future and how you will move on in life despite the negative circumstances.

Empoderate empowers women and children affected by domestic violence through support, education, and advocacy. We strive to provide the resources and community needed for survivors to rebuild their lives with confidence.

Through our awareness events and programs, we raise awareness and inspire action. We are dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every woman can achieve her full potential.
